The Last Call Foundation continuously works with the Boston and other Fire Departments and fire service organizations in support of addressing the health, wellness and safety issues firefighters face. This organization works to ensure that the necessary resources are available to fire departments, to advance the safety needs of the firefighting community. Over the course of our first year as a foundation, we have learned a lot about the challenges facing our firefighters. Some of the most startling statistics are those related to cancer diagnoses.
No firefighter should be killed because his most basic tool, a fire hose, fails him.
Last Call Foundation is calling for updated common sense thermal compliance standards to insure vastly improved thermal protection for Fire Hose the most important of firefighters tools.
Such as the A10 First Responder support vehicle, washers to decontaminate carcinogen-laden gear, an air compressor to enable firefighters air tanks to be refilled, mental health care for the treatment of PTS, replace an antique poorly functioning HVAC system that may be contributing to the poor air quality in the fire house.
